Portland, Oregon, is one of America’s most unique cities with something for everyone including amazing scenic outdoor destinations, historic sites and a bustling city center.

In 2021 Travel Portland debuted This is Portland: Central Eastside, the first in a series of short videos produced by in partnership with Black Bald Films.  African American filmmaker Dru Holley founded Black Bald Films in 2018 as an answer to the lack of diversity and underrepresentation he witnessed in the local film industry. The video, which was directed by Ime N. Etuk and produced by Annie Tonsiengsom, takes viewers on a virtual bike ride through the Central Eastside neighborhood, visiting spots like OMSI, Straightaway Cocktails, Spice of Africa, Afuri, Meals 4 Heels and Hey Love.

 

 

COVID-19, Vaccination Rates & Protocols

Oregon has one of the highest rates of fully vaccinated in the U.S. In Multnomah County where Portland sits, 81% of the eligible population is fully vaccinated (at time of writing).

Many restaurants, bars, theaters, and other establishments in Portland require proof of vaccination or negative PCR test in order to enter. This further increases safety throughout the city. For further information specific to Portland please visit the Travel Portland website.

 

Safety

In 2020 many US cities were tackling issues of police reform and social justice and a number of mass demonstrations and protests took place throughout the United States.  Specifically regarding Portland, the mass demonstration seen in the summer of 2020 have ended.  While visitors to Portland should use the same caution as when traveling to any metropolitan destination, Portland is a safe city for visitors.  For more information check out Travel Portland's FAQ page....
