Beware of Housing Scams

Room reservations for ACA are handled exclusively by ACA Headquarters. Phone, fax or email communications from any other company or organization, offering cut-rate housing for the ACA Conference or stating that they are a viable alternative to going through ACA’s official hotel block are not affiliated with ACA or the conference in any manner. While it is not illegal for a travel firm or booking agent to solicit potential customers, it can be difficult to determine the legitimacy of offers from these organizations. Those who opt for alternatives to ACA negotiated blocks and rates may find themselves at risk. Other groups report that after paying these types of companies, no room was reserved and their credit card was fraudulently charged.

For these reasons, and to support our efforts to give you a quality event, we highly recommend that you do not make any reservations through any unknown housing or travel company. Again, the ACA has no affiliation with any of these room brokers. ACA HQ is the ONLY official housing contractor for ACA2023. They will never call to solicit your business.

Beware of Fraudulent Attendee List Sales Scam

It has come to our attention that companies are contacting ACA attendees and exhibitors, claiming to offer our attendee lists. This is a common occurrence with large industry conferences and trade shows in recent years.

The ACA does not sell its meeting registration lists nor authorize any third party to distribute or sell annual meeting attendee lists, or lists related to any ACA event.  Authorized conference sponsors may obtain attendee lists but only upon request and review/approval by ACA HQ.  Please see the ACA Privacy Policy for additional details.

How did they get your email address? Software programs can crawl websites in search of email addresses that are listed on them (identifiable by the “@” sign).

If you receive an email offering to sell you a list of ACA conference attendees, do not respond to it. We understand that the email is a nuisance however, by responding, even with a request to unsubscribe, you confirm that your email address is a valid one. This may increase the likelihood that you’ll be contacted again.  

If you receive emails that propose to sell ACA conference attendee lists, again, do not engage with the sender and delete the message immediately.
